These images were taken between September 19th and September 23rd 2006, 5 weeks after ceasefire.
We went to Lebanon for 3 days, initially only to (find charities and) give a donation in person and see what happened to this country for ourselves. We gave money to the Red Cross and directly to some poor families in the Palestinian camp but most of it went to The Islamic Welfare Association in Saida, who's work I greatly admire. It covers everything from food parcels, medical aid and orphanages to aid for Palestinians. They are lovely people who looked after us for the duration of our stay and supplied us with a driver who took us to all the areas we never dreamt of seeing, such as Qana and Marwaheen, all the way down to the Israeli border. Without them most of my photographs would not have happened! We became friends and are in regular contact. All the money I am making with my photographs goes directly to them.
